For two consecutive years, Pony Footwear has been celebrating the unique vision of today’s young artists. On it’s third installment, it continues to showcase everyone’s creativity by conducting yet another contest, entitled as PONY SHOW OFF! Digital Film and Poster Art Competition.
Pony Footwear has long been associated with sport and rock icons. Part of its pop culture appeal lies in the fact that it celebrates creativity and individuality. With the competition,Pony reached out to the youth and encouraged them to express themselves and their unconventional ideas. The young talents answered with an in-your-face attitude encouraged by the brand, inspired to voice out their thoughts and “rebel” against the norm in a good and constructive way.
Scouring different schools in the metro, Pony had been camped out at various campuses to encourage digital and short film mavericks to get creative. Along with the promise of cash prizes and coveted Pony shoes to the winners, the brand challenged them to unleash their full potential and interpret its slogan “Let’s Get It On” by way of poster design or a short film showcasing Pony products and the attitude that the brand exudes.
In a rousing awards night held last November 23 at Insomnia Bar in Centris, Quezon City, Pony showed off the digital submissions and mixed the proceedings with a little bit of rock n’ roll numbers. Inviting the creators themselves to bring their friends over and enjoy the night dedicated to them, the chosen poster artwork were displayed in an exhibit at the venue, along with a screen that played the digital short entries chosen as finalists that would be competing for the top prizes.
Hosted by Patrick Moore and the lovely Joyce Pring, the event was highlighted by the attendance of Pony celebrity brand ambassador Valeen Montenegro, along with video music director Nani Naguit, ABS-CBN star and “Annaliza” cast member Carlo Aquino, and Star Circle’s newest batch member Jon Lucas, most of whom presented the special awards. Top fashion bloggers Seph Cham and Trice Nagusara handed out the special acknowledgements for the social media category, featuring entries in the Poster Art and Digital Film division that garnered most “likes” on Facebook.
The awarding was also graced with performances from different bands like Absolute Play, the electrifying Jejaview, the captivating Save Me Hollywood, and the exciting Alex in Wonderland – led by the inimitable Alex Medina, who took off his shirt and shoes and even jumped up on the seats of the booth in front of the stage! The lovely Isabelle de Leon, meanwhile, toned it a bit down with an acoustic performance. The night ended with a bang as the Masters of Mayhem, Wolfgang, ripped through their set.
